Ammon News - the Minister of State for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson, Ali Ayed said that the recent drop in the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths does not indicate that the pandemic has blown over.

In a phone call with the Public Security Department Radio "Amen FM", Ayed urged citizens to maintain commitment to precautionary and preventive measures against the pandemic.

During the call, which came on the occasion of the local radio's fourteenth anniversary, Ayed said the station has carried the messages of the Jordanian state, and has educated citizens on many social issues such as drugs, terrorism and extremism.

He also pointed out the station's national key role in educating citizens on the risks of the coronavirus and encouraging them to receive the COVID-19 jab.

He underlined that the radio strengthened the concept of community security to the point where there is a 'real partnership' between citizens and the public security apparatus, noting that it is a qualitative addition to the local media.

Further discussing the government's measures to deal with the pandemic, Ayed pointed out that Jordan is at the forefront of countries that began giving its citizens the vaccine, calling on Jordanians to register on the vaccine platform at www.vaccine.jo.

Ayed also urged citizens to adhere to the necessary prevention methods, including wearing face masks, social distancing and sterilization.

In this context, he lauded Jordanians' national role and commitment to curbing the pandemic, which led to the decline in the epidemiological curve, hailing the media's role in spreading awareness on the dangers of the pandemic.
