Ammon News - The General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions (GFJTU) affirmed its support for the "Tawkeed" program, which was announced by the Ministry of Labor, to ensure the continuity of reopening sectors and economic activities, which strengthens safety and health measures in the work environment, and protects workers from occupational hazards.
In a press statement on Saturday, GFJTU President, Mazen Maaytah, said the decision to reclose sectors and economic activities has a "hefty" cost on workers and employers alike, and has "grave" repercussions on the national economy and disrupts the wheel of production.
The GFJTU, emanating from keenness to maintain production process, has demanded since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic the employers to activate health and safety committees in businesses , in accordance with the provisions of the law that regulates this issue, according to the statement.
Maaytah also lauded the Ministry of Labor's efforts in carrying out the program-related protocols, which takes into consideration of the business nature and size, does not incur additional costs on employers, and ensures the continued economic activity.
