Ammon News - The Jordan Economic Forum (JEF) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Jordan signed, Thursday, a memorandum of understanding to establish a reference for the basic indicators of the Jordanian economy.

The memorandum, signed by Chairman of the JEF, Khair Abu Sailik, and the UNDP Resident Representative, Sara Ferrer Olivella, focused on joint cooperation on key development aspirations in Jordan and working to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan in the Kingdom.

Under the memorandum, the two parties agreed to highlight the importance of data and its role in policy-making and economic and development decisions to keep pace with the data age. It also supports the establishment of a reference for the basic indicators of the Jordanian economy, a system of evaluation and follow-up of the progress and review of these indicators, in addition to the inclusion of the Sustainable Development Goals in national plans and strategies.

The two parties, through the memorandum, seek joint work in the preparation of studies and policies, such as studying the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on companies, families and day laborers to contribute to its recovery, and spread statistical awareness and how to analyze data.

The two parties will work with young people within a series of dialogue programs to enhance their economic culture, promote the concept of sustainable development, and achieve the principle of true partnership between the public and private sectors.
