Ammon News - The Jordan National NGOs Forum (JONAF) on Monday prolonged the second phase of its COVID-19 response plan to mid April, the coalition said in a statement on Monday.

After the success of the first phase, the second phase of the JONAF plan guarantees the continuation of the Forum's and the Jordanian government's efforts over the next few months. The second phase, it said, aims at developing response and relief services provided to local communities.

The coalition, which includes over 40 local institutions, served more than 130,000 beneficiaries, targeting the most affected groups, including children, women, day laborers, migrants, refugees, the elderly and people with special needs since the phase was launched mid-November of 2020.

This phase covered various fields, the first of which is protection and prevention in relation to the implications and consequences of the pandemic, including conducting periodic assessments of the needs of the most affected groups, working closely with the government in response frameworks, and benefiting from the sectoral experiences of the coalition members.

Within the second phase of the plan, JONAF members participated in the implementation of a rapid needs assessment that included 525 respondents throughout the Kingdom, with the aim of identifying the basic needs that resulted from the pandemic and related to livelihoods, educational, health and medical social services to better inform the JONAF response plan.

JONAF, established in 2016, is an initiative spearheaded by the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development organization and civil society and community-based organizations. JONAF works with government officials and decision makers at the national and local levels on humanitarian response, developmental and protection services for refugees and host communities.
