Ammon News - A dad dressed as Buddy the elf and surprised his daughter by singing to her outside of her school - and the hilarious clip has been viewed more than 5 million times on TikTok.

It's natural to be a little embarrassed by your parents growing up, but one teenager had more reason than most after her dad really got into the Christmas spirit.

Waiting outside of her school dressed head-to-toe as Will Ferrell's character Buddy from the festive film Elf, the dad yells "Oh my goodness it's Elaina, I know her!" the moment she appears.

His daughter replies "What is wrong with you!?" as he announces in front of all the other students: "I want to sing you a song. Elaina, I'm here, and I love you, I love you, I looooove yoooou", as she tries her best to stop him.

She asks: "Why am I related to you?" as he insists that he had been sent by Puppa Elf and tells her to be good as she eventually makes a run for it.

The brilliant video was shared on TikTok by her mum, racking up 5.7 million views as she wrote: "Buddy showed up to pick up my daughter from school."

After it went viral, the mum said: "I'm glad that people are enjoying this. My daughter had the biggest smile when we got to the car," and replied to a comment to say it had gone down well, adding: "When she got in the car she said 'Dad, I love you so much'."

Viewers were left in stitches by the dad's efforts, as one commented to say: "I'd love for him to pick me up from school, I don't know what everyone else is thinking."

A second wrote: "Parenting done right."

And others joked over how little attention the stunt drew, writing: "I like how all the other kids keep walking because they know it's just another parent."

Someone else replied: "They're like 'oh hey Elena's dad' like this is the norm."

And another said: "Kids these days don't care about anything. They're all just walking past like that's not happening."

A second video was uploaded showing Buddy then going to pick up his son, armed with two pillows as he attempts to start a pillow fight while other children film it on their phones.

His son fights back and grabs hold on both pillows before the two hug and the dad again shouts "I love you, I looove yooou" - just like Buddy in the film.
