Ammon News - The Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO) has signed on Sunday, 102 grant agreements to support and develop productive agricultural projects to beneficiaries of the Rural Development and Employment Project, financed by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
The development activities were carried out in cooperation with the Jordan River Foundation (JRF), as the two bodies have inked a contract in this regard, emanating from JEDCO's capacity as the project manager to implement these enterprise.
The agreements were signed by Bashar Zoubi, JEDCO's Executive Director, and representatives of the concerned agricultural projects.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Zoubi said these agreements, which are comprised of over 64 group, and 38 individual grants, respectively, came to support productive agricultural projects in the governorates of Balqa, Ajloun, Jerash, Mafraq and Madaba, with a value totaling about $329.6 thousand, at a rate of $4500 and $1,500 for each group, individual grant, in a row.
The grant amounts will be transferred to the beneficiaries via e-wallets at a preferential cost, Zoubi pointed out.
The project proposals that won grants included entrepreneurial agricultural productive projects, as well as ventures creating job opportunities for the youth and women sectors, which would improve the living standards of families in the targeted governorates, according to a JEDCO press statement.
For her part, the JRF's Director General, Enaam Barishi, said the grant agreements to support productive agricultural projects comes within the scope of the JRF's operations in empowering local communities working in the agricultural sector.
Last June, 249 grants were signed to support and develop the value chain of productive agricultural crops, at a value of $827.8 thousand, distributed among the targeted governorates.
