Ammon News - President of the University of Jordan (JU), Abdul Karim Qudah, met with Spain's Ambassador to Jordan, Aranzazu Banon Davalos, ways to enhance joint academic and cultural cooperation.
During the meeting, the two sides highlighted their perspectives to enhance areas of cooperation.
Qudah said communication and coordination between the two parties will continue regarding the Spanish language program and the Spanish cultural corner at the School of Foreign Languages, pointing out that this cooperation falls within the university's strategic objectives to develop effective strategic partnerships locally, regionally and internationally.
Davalos, in turn, expressed her country's desire to continue cooperation with the University of Jordan due to its distinguished reputation among its counterparts at the local and regional levels, in a way that serves the interests of both parties.
The ambassador added that she looked forward to resuming extracurricular activities that the embassy holds in cooperation with the university annually.
Dean of the JU's School of Foreign Languages (SFL), Youssef Awad, said the Spanish Language Division is the largest in the school’s European Languages Department, noting that the number of students wishing to study the Spanish language is increasing annually.
Director of the JU's International Affairs Unit (IAU), Hadeel Yasseen pointed out that cooperation agreements with 10 Spanish universities were recently signed, with the aim of exchanging students and faculty members within the Erasmus Plus program for 2020, expressing the IAU's readiness to cooperate with the embassy and provide technical support.
