Ammon News - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, participated on Thursday in the 13th Bali Democracy Forum (BDF) in Indonesia, addressing the theme of "Democracy and the COVID-19 Pandemic".

In a recorded speech, Safadi focused on the challenges faced by democratic countries in the Asia-Pacific region amid COVID-19, stressing that our societies and countries need each other to overcome this unprecedented epidemic, without affecting the democratic process.

He confirmed the importance of resuming the reform and democratic process to ensure greater participation in decision-making, including women and youth, referring to the Kingdom's successful experience in achieving a balance between protecting citizens from this pandemic and implementing constitutional entitlements, by holding the parliamentary elections.

The FM touched upon His Majesty King Abdullah II’s speech about resetting globalization as a way to confront this pandemic and its dire repercussions on our communities, which requires addressing the global opportunity gap in order to confront this common threat.

"We must continue to consult and coordinate to find a balance between confronting COVID-19 and protecting the interests, rights and aspirations of our peoples towards a better future, which is what Jordan and all of our countries seek to achieve to bring about peace and security," he added.

Safadi emphasized that the challenges we face are common, and we need to leverage the strengths and resources of each of our countries to a regional safety net that protects our future.
