The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) claimed the life of 46 people in Jordan within the last 24 hours, as the death toll stands at 3,162, and a total of 3062 cases were recorded Tuesday, pushing the caseload to 247131, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).
Breaking down today's tally, the MoH said that 1,062 cases were recorded in Amman, 768 in Irbid, including 37 cases in the city of Ramtha, 310 in Zarqa, 168 in Balqa, 144 in Mafraq, 137 in Karak, 118 in Ajloun,113 in Jerash, 108 in Aqaba, 54 in Tafilah, 46 in Madaba and 34 in Ma'an, including 14 cases in the city of Petra.
The number of active cases stood at 46911, while 194 patients were admitted to accredited hospitals and some 167 people had recovered and were discharged from hospitals, according to a press briefing issued by the Prime Ministry and Health Ministry.
The total number of COVID-19 patients in hospitals stands at 1,406, and the ICU occupancy rate amounted to 45 percent,whereas a total of 197058 COVID-19 patients, including 5025 patients who had been in self-isolation and hospitals, have fully recovered so far.
The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Kingdom stands at around 48,920, it added.
As part of the government's efforts to stem the spread of the coronavirus, contact tracing teams, Tuesday, conducted 22308 tests, about 13.73 percent of which came back positive, as the total number now tops 2.7 million.
The MoH urged people to abide by the defense orders and adhere to safety measures, foremost of which is wearing masks, as it warned against holding gatherings of more than 20 people.
It also encouraged people to follow the MoH's awareness-raising campaign on how to stay safe from COVID-19, dubbed "I Protect Them."
