07-12-2020 11:15 PM

Ammon News -

Interior Minister Sameer Mubaidin Monday praised the security crackdown to arrest dangerous criminals, outlaws and racketeers, which, he said, was met with wide popular support.

During a visit to the Public Security Department (PSD), where he met its director General Maj. Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh and senior officers, the Minister underlined earlier instructions not to release any of those arrested and to refer to him such cases personally, stressing that "there will be no favouritism or appeasement and that law enforcement will fulfill the national interest."

He lauded Public Security personnel for their "exceptional" efforts in enforcing defence orders related to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the efforts of the ambulance and rescue teams at the start of winter.

The Public Security Directorate (PSD) is the protector of national security and stability and state prestige, and will remain attached to the citizens as it enforces the law professionally, neutrally and without bias, he said.

He pledged that the Interior Ministry will fully back the security apparatus, and asked administrative governors to boost security coordination with police departments across the Kingdom.

For his part, Hawatmeh said that the PSD continued to boost the capacities of all police and criminal units to elevate the level of security service, enhance community and humanitarian work and support national efforts in the various fields.
