The epidemiological curve in the Kingdom has shifted from being stable to the start of declining, Assistant Secretary-General for Primary Health Care at the Ministry of Health, Ghazi Sharkas, announced on Saturday.
Sharkas told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that Friday reflects the end of the 47th epidemiological week, as the number of weekly infections with the Coronavirus (Covid-19) decreased to 33,266, with a variance of 4,516 compared to the 46th week and with a variance of 2041 from the 45th week.
The weekly number of deaths due to Covid-19 infection decreased compared to the past two weeks, Sharkas added.
He noted that the rate of weekly positive-tested samples also decreased to 17.4 percent, which is less than the previous weeks, adding that as of the 48th week that began today, 3108 infections were recorded, which indicates that the curve continues to decline.
The health official said the decrease in the number of coronavirus infections constitutes an opportunity, and the downward curve must be maintained by adhering to means of prevention and physical distancing to avoide setbacks.
