Zarqa's field hospital to receive Covid-19 patients as of next week: RMS Acting Director General

Acting Director General of the Royal Medical Services (RMS), Brigadier Nidal Khasawneh, said that the rate of infected practitioners and nurses with coronavirus (Covid-19), who treat virus-infected patients is less than the rate of medical personnel who catch the virus from outside hospitals.

Khasawneh made his remarks in a press conference at the Prince Hashim bin Al Hussein Hospital, following the inauguration the first field hospital by His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday in Zarqa Governorate.

"The hospital will start receiving Covid-19 patients starting next week, as the hospital includes 450 nursing, technical, administrative and radiologists," Khasawneh said.

He pointed out that there is a participatory plan to transfer people infected with coronavirus between the Ministry of Health, the RMS and the Civil Defense Directorate (CDD), and respective practitioners, "pulmonologists and critical care specialists and anesthesiologists," have also been trained to improve medical services.

He explained that keeping or closing the isolation department in Prince Hashim bin Al Hussein Hospital is under study, and that the focus at this stage is on protecting all medical personnel by taking precautions and preventive measures represented in providing medical suits and special masks to ensure their safety and to preserve the health of patients and citizens.

Director of Moral Guidance Department, Brigadier General Talal Al-Ghbein, said that equipping the field hospital aims to enhance the efforts of the Jordanian Armed Forces to deal with the pandemic and allocate it completely to receive cases infected with virus, as the hospital accommodates about 300 beds, including 48 ICU beds and 12 beds for intermediate care.
