Minister of Health, Nazir Obeidat, on Tuesday decided to reconsider the pricing of the coronavirus (Covid-19) test (PCR) conducted by private laboratories, adopting a new price of JD25 at the minimum and JD30 at the maximum, instead of the old price, which was JD35.
The decision was based on the recommendation and review of the Laboratories Committee at the Health Ministry, to reconsider the pricing and periodically by studying the pricing of laboratory tests at international levels and the basis for applying standards for accrediting the laboratory in all its technical and health aspects, the ministry said in statement.
The ministry added that the Private Laboratories Committee is working periodically to review the pricing of tests and accredit private laboratories, in a manner that ensures quality and efficiency at the highest levels.
The ministry called on private laboratories to adhere to the pricing it had set, indicating that it would directly follow any comments or information it receives about the lack of compliance with the pricing set by the ministry.
