Jordan recorded 5,419 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the caseload to some 126,400, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).
In its daily briefing on COVID-19, the MoH said that 2,514 cases were recorded in Amman, 795 in Zarqa, 704 in Irbid, 289 in Balqa, 261 in Ajloun, 223 in Madaba, 200 in Jerash, 173 in Aqaba, 95 in Tafilah, 85 in Maan, 54 in Mafraq and 26 in Karak.
Eighty-one succumbed to COVID-19 within the last 24 hours, as the death toll stands at 1,467, the MoH added.
A total of 344 patients were admitted to hospitals as the total number of the hospitalized surpasses 1,784, while 167 people had recovered and were discharged.
In its effort to stem the spread of the coronavirus, the MoH contact tracing teams conducted some 21,340 COVID-19 tests today, as the tally surpasses 2.1 million, the MoH added.
Amid the rise in the number of cases, the MoH urged people to abide by health measures, wearing masks and gloves, and to commit to defense orders that prohibit holding gatherings of more than 20 people, highlighting the importance of downloading the "Aman" and "Sihtak" apps.
