FM: Spain pledges 50 mln euros in aid, grants to Jordan

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi announced that the Kingdom will receive a 50 million euros from Spain to support development projects.

Safadi, during a joint press conference with his Spanish counterpart Arancha Gonzalez, said that a four-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by Gonzalez and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Wissam Rabadi.

Safadi added that the MoU includes 25 million euros as a grant and 25 million euros as soft loans.

The two top diplomats reviewed the latest developments in the Middle East region, namely, the Palestinian cause.

Safadi said that the Palestinian cause remains the core issue for Jordan, stressing the need for a real action towards relaunching serious and effective negotiations.

The Spanish minister said that her country will improve Jordan's sanitation, water management, governance, and public institutions.
