Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The government is relying on the awareness of people in the fight against COVID-19, following its latest decision to stop placing security health lockdowns on buildings, Minister of State for Media Affairs Amjad Adaileh said Tuesday.
In a briefing at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM), Adaileh told journalists that the Cabinet held a meeting today for a discussion on the latest measures taken by the government to stem the spread of COVID-19.
Adaileh, who is also the government's spokesperson, reiterated that the government will spear no effort in providing whatever medical treatment for whoever needs it, urging people to support those efforts and abide by the health measures.
He warned that Defense Order (8) of 2020 will hold flouters accountable, adding that violators could face up to three years in prison and/or a JOD 3,000 fine.
The minister noted that starting Wednesday, September 23, arrivals from "Red, Yellow and Green" countries will not be subject to institutional quarantine as they will be required to quarantine themselves for a week, according to the established protocol.
Home quarantine will be monitored by the competent authorities as they will pay surprise visits to the quarantined. Flouters of the home quarantine orders will be held accountable according to Defense Order (8) of 2020, he added.
On the government's decision to increase funding facilities for citizens as part of the National Program for Housing / Land Axis, Adaileh said that it is aimed at allowing all people to leverage the program.
