Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Health, Dr. Saad Jaber, announced 40 new Covid-19 cases, including 30 local infections, were recorded in the Kingdom, bringing the total caseload to to 1,756.
Speaking during a press conference on Wednesday at the Prime Ministry, Jaber said the imported cases involve 9 arrivals coming from Saudi Arabia, the United States of America and Egypt, and 1 infection to a Jordanian truck driver at the Al Omari Border Crossing.
Two local cases were recorded in Zarqa governorate to contacts, 24 in the capital, Amman- 22 caught the disease from know sources, 2 cases under investigation,- and 4 infections in northern Irbid governorate. according to Jaber.
Since Friday, August 7, local infections have hit 413, including 65 in Sahab district, while 11 patients have recovered, bringing the total recoveries to 1,372 cases, he said.
381 patients remain under treatment- 242 in Prince Hamzah Hospital, 126 in isolation areas, and 13 in Queen Alia Hospital, he pointed out.
Moreover, the minister said the investigation teams have administered 14,085 tests today, bringing the total number conducted since the start of the pandemic to 777,222.
An infected Jordanian, in his forties, who arrived from an Arab country in a bad condition and suffers from chronic diseases, has died, the minister noted.
Jaber noted 170 epidemiological investigation teams have conducted tests in the Sahab district, noting the numbers of tests are "record."
Lauding the "tremendous" efforts made by the medical teams and laboratories, who work round the clock, Jaber called on citizens to stay away from gatherings, and celebrations that violate anti-Covid-19 instructions, adhere to physical distancing, wear face masks, and use sterilizers.
