Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A blazing heat wave has pushed electric load to 3,450 megawatts (MW), the highest load recorded since the beginning of the hot season, according to the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO).
In a statement on Tuesday, NEPCO General Manager Amjad Rawashdeh said that the power load increased by 14.6 percent compared to a high of 3,010 MW recorded last summer.
Rawashdeh expected that the load will continue to rise and to range between 3,400MW and 3,500MW as the Kingdom continues to bake in the heat wave until the end of the week, adding that demand is expected to go down during the Eid Al-Adha holiday.
He stressed NEPCO's ability to meet the growth in end-use electrical consumption, saying the company is ready to deal with any exceptional circumstances.
