PM: "I challenge anybody from Israel to say yes to a one-state democratic solution"

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Tuesday warned that an Israeli plan to annex parts of the West Bank would fuel a new wave of violence and extremism in the Middle East.

Speaking to the British newspaper The Guardian, Razzaz said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's annexation policy would be "ushering in a new apartheid state" that could be a radicalizing force and further destabilize the region and the world.

"The way we see it, anything short of a two-state solution is going to push the region and the world into chaos," he stated. "We are against unilateral actions. We are against any steps that are not within an overall scheme that leads to a two-state solution," Razzaz added.

"I challenge anybody from Israel to say yes to a one-state democratic solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict," he said, indicating that a one-state solution is firmly rejected by the Israelis.

"Nobody in Israel is talking about that. Who's talking about the one-state solution in Israel? They're talking about apartheid in every single sense," Razzaz explained to the newspaper.

The prime minister said that Jordan will not absorb transfers of Palestinians, nor will it be a substitute homeland, underscoring that the Kingdom will not give up its custodianship over the holy Muslim and Christian sites in Jerusalem. "These three are clear for us," he stated.

Razzaz said annexation would enshrine a South Africa-style apartheid system, noting that this was already being practiced against Palestinians inside Israel and in the occupied territories.

He pointed out that South Africa was not a problem only for its neighboring countries but that it was a problem for the world. "If Israel continues on this track, it's going to be a problem for the world," he said.
