Adaileh : Government has not set a specific date to reopen airports

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, said the government has not set a specific date for reopening airports to operate flights from "green" countries, whose epidemiological situation is labeled "low risk."

In media statements to "Petra" on Wednesday, Adaileh said the government is "carefully" studying the mechanism to reopen airports with "Covid-19 low-risk" countries next month, indicating that their number will not exceed 10 nations.

These "green" countries will be announced after the study on the extent of similarity to Jordan's epidemiological situation, as per health criteria approved by the Ministry of Health, is completed, according to the minister.

Adaileh said the country list may change according to developments in their epidemiological situation.

Jordanians and foreign visitors residing, or staying for 14-day period in countries with low-risk epidemiological situation, will be allowed to enter Jordan without entering a quarantine, but according to a set of conditions that will be announced during the coming period, Adaileh announced.

With regard to the epidemiological situation locally, Adaileh said the Kingdom is still at "a moderate risk level" after recording a local infection on Tuesday.

Continuing: " We were on the eve of moving to the green phase that requires no local cases are recorded for ten consecutive days according to the severity matrix earlier announced to deal with the pandemic."

Accordingly, he noted government measures at this stage will remain the same, as curfews after 12:00 midnight will be imposed, closure of some sectors will continue, and gatherings exceeding 20 people will be banned.

On the a pandemic second wave warnings, he said Jordan is "not isolated from the world countries," noting that the danger has not ended despite a limited number of local infections were registered during the recent period, calling on the public to adhere to the preventive measures, physical distance and wear masks.

With regard to medical tourism, he said said Jordan welcomed patients from the Arab countries, especially as the Kingdom's medical body enjoys "great confidence" by the the Arab countries.

In this context, he noted Jordan is one of the best countries in the world in the field of medical tourism, pointing to the Jordanian model, achieved by the medical teams in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, which contributed to increasing requests from Arab countries' patients to receive treatment in the Kingdom.
