Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Education, Tayseer Nuaimi, announced the school year 2020/2021 is scheduled to begin early next September.
Nuaimi said the next school year will resume "as usual," however form of the educational process will be governed by the epidemiological situation in the Kingdom, adding the ministry has a number of alternatives to deal with any epidemiological developments.
Speaking during a press conference on Wednesday, he said the ministry's decision to begin the next school year was based on a set of criteria, aimed to strike a balance in: Educational and health conditions, the curriculum-allocated time and implementation, as well as adherence to educational policies and operational procedures for schools and flexibility in this regard.
To ensure the students' safety, he said the Ministry is working in cooperation with the Ministry of Health to prepare an educational health protocol to provide a healthy and safe school environment for students to return to schools.
The Ministry will launch, starting from the 9th of next month, a remedy program for students targeting the first to eleventh grades, aired on TV, focusing on basic skills in a number of curricula, according to Nuaimi.
The Ministry, he said, has launched today three e-services, targeting student registration in the first basic stage for the next school year, license renewal of private educational institutions, and equivalence of non-Jordanian high school certificates.
With regard to Jordanian school-age students abroad and wishing to return to the Kingdom, Nuaimi said the Ministry will next Sunday post a link on its website to enable this group to enroll in government schools until they return homeland, simultaneously calling on them to pursue lessons through the Ministry's remote education network.
