Jordan's trade deficit down 26.3pct in first 4 months of 2020

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan’s trade balance deficit slumped by 26.3 percent in the first 4 months of 2020 to JD2.045 billion, compared with JD2.775 billion recorded in the same period last year.

According to a monthly report from the Department of Statistics (DoS) on foreign trade, the value of total exports decreased by 7.5 percent to reach nearly JD1.633 billion in 2020, compared with JD1.765 billion in the same period of 2019.

DoS figures showed that the value of national exports in the first third of 2020 also dropped by 3.1 percent with a total of JD1.424 billion against JD1.469 billion in 2019.

The value of re-exports amounted to JD208.8 million during 2020, marking a decrease of 29.5 percent against the same period in 2019.

On the other hand, the Kingdom’s imports in the first four months of 2020 amounted to JD3.678 billion, down by 19 percent when compared to the same period of 2019, according to the DoS data.
