Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The government will soon announce a series of decisions aimed at propping the sectors that have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 economic fallout, primarily tourism and transport, Minister of State for Media Affairs Amjad Adaileh said, Wednesday.
Adaileh pointed out that the government will also announce decisions to support other sectors such as construction and housing as this will be done through the Advisory Council for the Economic Policies.
The Council held a meeting today, chaired by Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, to draw a plan on how to support the sectors that have been affected the most by the pandemic's economic fallout to adapt and survive the next phase and start the recovery process.
He highlighted a series of decisions that have been recently announced, invoking defense orders 13 and 14 to support the tourism sector and draw up protection programs to safeguard the workers' interests in the sectors that have been the most impacted by the pandemic.
On the Jordanian Teachers Association's criticism of the government's decision to suspend the latest raise on technical allowances for the public servants, Adaileh said that current situation created by the pandemic has prompted the government to take the decision to suspend the raise until the end of 2020, adding that everyone has been affected by the decision, not only teachers.
He emphasized that the raise on technical allowance will be reintroduced as of January 2021.
