Minister warns ‘pandemic still exists’ as infections mount

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of State for Media Affairs Amjad Adaileh said Monday that recording local COVID-19 infections within the last two days reminds everyone that the "pandemic still exists’ and that people should remain vigilant and follow health and precautionary measures.
In a briefing on COVID-19, Adaileh said that an increase of 10 local COVID-19 infections for seven consecutive days might constitute a setback, and take us back a stage (medium gravity), which would necessitates a reverse of track and the imposition of blanket curfews throughout weekends, limiting the hours during which people are allowed to move outside their homes and the reopening of enterprises and businesses.
The epidemiological situation in the Kingdom, he said, according to the government’s matrix on how to deal with the pandemic, is at the "moderately hazardous."
He reiterated the importance of abiding by the health and precautionary measures, chief of which are social distancing and wearing gloves and masks, warning that institutions that don’t follow through on their health obligations will be dealt with in accordance with the law, adding that penalties might include the shuttering of these institutions.
