Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan continues to bake in a blazing heat wave that pushed mercury levels higher than annual average by about 8 to 9 Celsius degrees, reaching 37 in Amman, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.

Cooler weather is forecast at night as temperatures slide to around 22 degrees in the Capital, the Department added, noting that winds will be northwesterly moderate to brisk, blowing dust in the eastern and southern parts of the Kingdom, and causing poor visibility at times.

The southernmost Red Sea port of Aqaba and the Jordan Valley will continue to reel under sweltering weather as daytime temperature will range between 44 and 45 degrees.

Mercury levels will start to dip few degrees on Friday, but it will remain hot in much parts of the country, forecasters said.

The hot spell is expected to subside on Saturday, as thermometers will significantly push down, bringing fair weather in most regions, with the exception of the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea where it will be relatively hot.

A wet and relatively cold air mass is forecast nationwide in the evening with spotty and intermittent showers in the northern region, the JMD further said.
