Returning to normal hinges on epidemiological situation in the Kingdom

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Eid al-Fitr holiday will remain unchanged, from May 23 to 25 of the same month, and public sector employees will report to work on May 26 even if it was the third day of the holy feast, State Minister for Media Affairs Amjad Adaileh said on Tuesday.

The minister reiterated that the Kingdom will be observe on the first day of Eid, which will fall on either May 23 or 24 depending on crescent moon sighting, a total lockdown where citizens will only be allowed on move foot between 08:00am and 07:00pm as applied now. In the second day of Eid, the use of vehicles will be allowed, the minister said at a press conference at the prime ministry.

Medical staff from the public and private sectors and a limited number of key institutions' employees will be excluded from the lockdown, Adaileh, who is also the government spokesman, added.

The odd-even plate rotation system will remain in place in the capital Amman and in the governorates of Zarqa and Balqa, the minister said. He announced that the government is currently looking into allow media outlets staff to move during complete lockdown days.

Adaileh denied reports that there are plans to reopen the Queen Alia International Airport and resume tourism and travel activity at the current stage.

With regard to the resumption of work in the public sector after the Eid holiday, Adaileh said ministers will set quotas for those who will be required to report to work, stressing that this process will be streamlined by a back-to-work manual the government has recently released. Also employees with pre-exisiting conditions as well as pregnant and breastfeeding women will be excluded from the back-to-work decision.
