Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, on Friday, continued the Kingdom's efforts to crystalize an international stance against Israel's plans to annex occupied Palestinian territory in what would be a blatant violation of international law and a blow to peace efforts.
In a telephone conversation, Safadi discussed the issue with his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian who said his country rejects the Israeli scheme and plans to counter it. The two ministers reviewed areas of cooperation and the chances for launching direct and serious negotiations to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the two-state solution.
Safadi stressed, during the call that took place prior to a video conference of the 27 EU Foreign Ministers during which they are expected to exchange views on the Middle East Peace Process, that confronting the Israeli annexation scheme is intended to protect international law and peace.
In other phone call, Safadi discussed with his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulides the Israeli plans, warning that the Israeli scheme, if implemented, will kill the two-state solution and derail peace efforts.
Over the past few weeks, Safadi conducted extensive discussions with his counterparts in the region and abroad aimed at coordinating efforts to protect peace from the grave threat the Israeli plans pose.
