Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Interior Minister Salameh Hammad affirmed Jordan's appreciation to the humanitarian role of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and its continuous endeavor to stand in solidarity with refugees host countries.
During a meeting on Thursday with UNHCR Jordan Representative, Dominik Bartsch, the two officials discussed means of supporting Jordan withstand the significant pressures of the waves of refugees arriving from different countries, along with a number of issues of common concern.
"Jordan has always been the place for security and tranquility seekers, which brought successive waves of refugees in a way that affected its economy, security, and quality of life," the minister said, stressing that in order to fulfill the humanitarian duty towards refugees, the international community needs to profoundly view Jordan's capabilities and provide the needed support.
He also asserted the ministry’s commitment to support the UNHCR’s efforts in Jordan, by facilitating its work that aims at mitigating the effects of the refugee crisis on Jordan and refugees alike.
For his part, the UN official appreciated the support of the ministry and its affiliated institutions in smoothing the way for the UNHCR to address the needs of refugees in an immediate and rapid manner.
