Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Thursday announced the expiration of a deadline given to Israeli farmers to harvest crops they had planted in the Ghumar lands before the termination of the annex to the Peace Treaty.
On November 10 of 2019, the government had allowed Israeli farmers to enter the 4,235-dunum Ghumar land for an additional period to harvest their crops under Jordanian law and after obtaining entry visas, said Daifallah Fayez, the Ministry's Spokesperson.
Fayez pointed out that Israeli farmers' entry was not under the Peace Treaty's special regime, adding that this additional period ends Thursday evening.
In a Speech from the Throne during the opening of Parliament's fourth ordinary session last November, His Majesty King Abdullah II had affirmed the termination of the two special annexes to the Peace Treaty, which allowed Israel to use the Baqoura and Ghumar lands. The Kingdom decided to end the annexes after the legal term expired.
