Syrian authorities release seven Jordanian detainees

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced on Wednesday the Syrian authorities have released seven Jordanian detainees.

The detainees were transferred to the Kingdom this morning, taking into account the preventive precautions and measures against the Covid-19 pandemic, where they will spend a quarantine period, the ministry pointed out.

In a press statement, the ministry's official spokesperson, Dhaifallah Fayez, said the concerned authorities in Syria had kindly responded to Jordan's request to release the arrested Jordanians, which led to the release of seven detainees.

Fayez appreciated the cooperation of the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the concerned authorities in following up on this issue and thanked their decision to release the citizens, in line with the "historic" relations between the two brotherly countries and peoples.

Fayez said: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to perform its duty to follow up on the conditions of Jordanian citizens abroad.

In coordination with all state institutions and agencies concerned, THE ministry will continue to make every effort available to resolve the issues of Jordanian detainees and prisoners abroad, he noted.

The released persons are: Omar Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Muhammad Alyan Mousa, Ali Hayel Ali, Mustafa Nayef Abdel Mohsen, Ahmed Raheb Abdel Fattah, Amin Salama Shtaiwi, Fadi Ibrahim Hafez.
