Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah, at a teleconference meeting with governors on Monday, urged efforts to alleviate the burden on citizens by monitoring prices during the holy month of Ramadan, as demand typically rises.
During the meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, King Abdullah stressed the importance of coordination among all the concerned entities, including making sure government measures are conveyed in a timely manner to governors.
His Majesty noted the role of governors in conveying the concerns of small- and medium-sized enterprises to the government, calling for safeguarding the private sector in the governorates and maintaining communication with the public.
The King underscored the importance of stepping up awareness messages to the public to call for adhering to safety precautions when heading to shops, by wearing masks and gloves, especially as various sectors gradually resume operation.
Failure to comply with health regulations could take Jordan two steps back, His Majesty warned.
The King commended the governors’ efforts since the start of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis.
Speaking at the meeting, Interior Minister Salameh Hammad said the ministry is coordinating with the various concerned public entities to counter the COVID-19 pandemic.
For their part, the governors highlighted efforts underway in each governorate to deal with COVID-19, with ongoing coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the National Centre for Security and Crisis Management.
They noted that prices are being closely monitored and measures are being taken to provide information on health and safety regulations to the public.
