Jaber confirms 4 new COVID-19 cases, caseload at 401

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Four new COVID-19 infections were recorded in Jordan on Wednesday, bringing the total caseload to 401 since the outbreak of the disease in the Kingdom several weeks ago.

Minister of Health Sa'ed Jaber said the four new cases include three siblings who contracted the disease from their infected father in the northern Irbid governorate and a 4-year old boy whose mother's infection has been already confirmed and is now under medical care.

Speaking at a daily press briefing, the minister said 15 cases have recovered and discharged from hospitals, pushing the active caseload down to 144. According to Jaber, a total of 2,500 tests were carried out on Wednesday, which is the largest daily testing load so far.

The minister also announced that cargo truck drivers coming from abroad will be tested on the borders and will be required start to a mandatory 14-day self-isolation after the test.

With regard to the government's plans to gradually reopen the economy, Jaber appealed to the public to maintain commitment to health safety and precautionary measures, including social distancing and proper hygiene.
