Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Labor Nidal Bataineh on Wednesday commended private sector employers' "swift and responsible" response to Defense Order No. 6 issued last week in terms of paying March salaries and reinstating some employees.
In a statement, Bataineh said that 14,004 workers have filed wage delay-related complaints, noting that the cases of 11,755 laborers were resolved and had their salaries paid now. The minister assured that the remaining cases will be resolved by the end of a moratorium ending next Sunday the ministry set for the payment of March wages.
Furthermore, the Minister indicated that since the crisis began, a total of 1,330 workers lodged complaints with the ministry after their contracts had been terminated by their employers. Of that number, 457 were under probation or were employed under fix-term contracts, whereby the law does not require the employer to continue with the recruitment.
However, Bataineh said, 522 dismissed employees have been reinstated in their jobs, expecting the number to increase significantly by the end of next Sunday.
