08-04-2020 09:00 AM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - he Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply has stopped traders from exporting or re-exporting food products with a view to boost the Kingdom's stockpile of foodstuffs in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.

The decision, which came into effect Monday, is intended to shield the Kingdom against turmoil in global markets resulting from the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Tariq Hammouri told Petra on Wednesday.

He pointed out that the decision to stop exporting and re-exporting foodstuffs will continue until ministry concludes an ongoing study aimed at evaluating the Kingdom's strategic food stockpile of foodstuffs and production inputs, assuring that the Kingdom maintains sufficient strategic stocks of various food supplies.
