Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Lower House warned on Saturday of the danger of regional escalation "at the expense of Iraq's interests, security and stability."
In a statement, the legislature stressed the importance of protecting the interests of Iraqis and containing any escalation that would raise tension on Iraqi soil.
It called for an Arab position supportive of Iraq's stabilization and security to spare the Iraqi people more chaos and turbulence as a result of the latest developments in Iraq.
The House called for supporting Iraq's efforts to extend its sovereignty over the country and enhance its interests in the various fields, foremost of which is security and stability, and "to ensure that it will not return to the tension that drained the capabilities of the country's people and institutions in the last years."
The statement urged Arab support of efforts "to contain the crisis and ensure the requirements of de-escalation."
It also cautioned against the consequences of any new crisis in the region that would exacerbate tension, adding that all the parties should diplomatically address existing crises and respect the principles of neighborliness, non-interference in the internal affairs of Iraq and respect of its territorial sovereignty.
