Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The ministry of Interior, supported by the European Union, has developed an e-application aimed to enable regional governors to electronically and directly track all projects implemented within their areas, Interior Minister Salama Hammad announced Sunday.

Presiding over a meeting with governors, in the presence of Secretary General Khaled Abu Hamour, Hammad gave a briefing on the e-service's technical and administrative aspects, with eye on its implementation in a way that "positively" reflects on the service and development in the Kingdom's governorates.

Keen to develop its services, he said the ministry will keep pace with the fast technological and administrative developments, monitor progress in the current projects and address the obstacles facing them, if any, in a manner that ensures the accurate and fast implementation in accordance with the specifications set for this purpose.

Discussing the "important" role of the governors as heads of the executive authorities in their regions, he said:" They are directly responsible for the governorates' security and development, as it is their responsibility to follow up on the implemented projects, monitor them permanently and track the progress stages".

Continuing:"The ministry also developed a program of 400 indicators to study the governorate's situation in all sectors so that the local development directorate can determine the service and development gaps, to meet the needs and address them in a practical way based on realistic numbers."

On this context, he noted those needs are met through service development programs that include several projects, funded by the governorates' allocations, fiscal budget, royal initiatives, and external grants.

Talks during the meeting, also attended by Resident Representative at UNDP Jordan Majida Assaf, "extensively" tackled the newly-developed e-service and means of implementing it, as governors assured that it will be handled, in a manner consistent with requirements of improving the governorates' development process.
