Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Lower House on Tuesday recommended that eight corruption cases in the 2017 Audi Bureau report be referred to the Prosecutor General and the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission and to take the necessary measures to recover the money.
In an oversight session chaired by Speaker Atef Tarawneh and attended by Prime Minister Omar Razzaz and cabinet members, the legislature approved the recommendations of its Finance Committee to refer the 8 corruption cases, which include explicit breaches, to the Prosecutor General, and 71 suspected cases to the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission.
Razzaz said that the approach with which the House Finance Committee and the government ad hoc committee dealt with the Audit Bureau's report sets new norms to address violations in a systematic manner away from intimidation and exaggeration of figures.
He stressed the importance of promoting accountability and holding officials to account for wrongdoing, pointing out that the government will seek clarifications from the Audit Bureau on a monthly basis.
The Prime Minister reviewed efforts to enhance the independence of the oversight bodies through amending the legislation of the Civil Service Bureau and the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission and expanding the financial disclosure base.
