09-12-2019 08:49 AM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Kingdom on Monday remains under the impact of the cold and wet front, pushing temperatures down and bringing cold and rainy conditions with westerly to southwesterly moderate to brisk winds, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.

Heavy rain accompanied by thunder, lightning and hail is also expected in various regions, causing floods in valleys and lowlands, the JMD added.

Daytime temperatures for today in Amman and the northern cities will hover around 13 degrees Celsius, dropping down at night to 9. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 25 degrees and lows standing at 15.

Similar chilly and cloudy weather will continue on Tuesday with rainfall in the northern and central parts of the Kingdom that may turn heavy at times, mainly in the morning hours in the northern regions, accompanied by thunder, lightning and hail and forming flash floods in water-accumulation areas, valleys and lowlands.

The weather will start to stabilize in the afternoon, the JMD expected, noting that winds will be southwesterly to northwesterly moderate to brisk, blowing dust at times.

Mercury levels will rise few degrees on Wednesday, so relatively cold weather will prevail in most areas of the country, while it will be pleasant in the Jordan Valley and Aqaba with high-altitude clouds and southeasterly winds, the JMD further said.

The JMD also warned public of low visibility due to fog formation and the risk of floods.
