Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The State Security Court on Monday adjourned until tomorrow the trial of an Israeli man who illegally crossed into Jordan in late October, after he pleaded not guilty to one of the charges.

During the trial of Konstantin Kolotov, held under presiding judge Ali Mubaidin and judges Raed Zu'bi and Nasser Salamat as members, the defendant pleaded not guilty to drug use, but confessed to crossing the border on foot.

The presiding judge had asked for witnesses to make the proof in the scheduled session.

Kotov is facing the criminal charges of "possessing a narcotic substance (hashish) with the intent of using it, contrary to the provisions of Article 9 (a) of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 23 of 2016, and illegally entering the Kingdom in violation of Article 153 bis of the Penal Code No. 16 of 1960 and its amendments."

"The defendant crossed the borderline to Jordan coming from Israel, and was dealt with in accordance with the rules of engagement of the Jordanian Armed Forces within the area of Um Sidra, and was arrested by the armed forces," the court stated.

The defendant had confessed that he arrived at the border with an accomplice in a private vehicle and both stopped near the Jordanian-Israeli border, but he crossed the frontier alone.
