Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Number of foreign visitors to the ancient city of Petra witnessed a 98 percent rise in the month of September, compared to the same period of 2018, according to figures published by the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA).
Chief Commissioner of the PDTRA, Suleiman Farajat, said the number of visitors to the red rose city during September reached 93,665, including some 82,928 foreigners and 10,169 Arabs and Jordanians, in addition to some 568 from school-organized trips.
In September 2018, the red-rose city received 53,115 visitors of various nationalities, of those 41,970 were foreigners, and 10,617 were Arabs and Jordanians. These figures indicate a 76 percent in the total number of visitors.
Over the first nine months of this year, a total of 751,583 people went to Petra, compared to 560,414 during the same period of 2018, a 34 percent increase.
