Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, along with Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov stressed the importance of the meeting that will bring together His Majesty King Abdullah II, and Russian President Vladimir Putin next month.
The two top diplomats also stressed, in a meeting held on the sidelines of the 74th General Assembly of the United Nations in New York, the importance of the development in the two countries' ties.
The two ministers reviewed the latest developments in the Middle East region, namely, the Syrian crisis, and the Palestinian cause.
On Palestine, Safadi commended the Russian role that supports the two-state solution, stressing the need for the international community to act to curb the Israeli occupation authorities and its actions that violate international law and threaten regional and international security and peace.
Safadi also met in New York with Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, where the minister highlighted the UN efforts in Syria, stressing his support for the role of the UN envoy and his next steps to launch the work of the Constitutional Committee.
The minister also took part at a seminar which was organized by the International Institute for Peace (IIP), and moderated by Australian former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.
Safadi also participated at the High Level Ministerial Meeting on the Humanitarian Crisis in Yemen, as well as, the tenth ministerial meeting on the Comprehensive Nuclear Test- Ban Treaty.
Safadi also held a series of meetings with the foreign ministers of Lithuania, Cyprus, Malta, Estonia, Cuba, Romania, German State Minister for Foreign Ministry, the High Representative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, and the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon.
The minister also held a series of meetings with the foreign ministers of Indonesia, Mauritania, Bahrain, and the UAE.
