17-09-2019 03:19 PM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Majd Shweikeh, Tuesday held a meeting in Amman with her Turkish counterpart, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, and an accompanying delegation for a discussion on cementing Jordanian-Turkish cooperation on tourism.

Shweikeh highlighted the various investment opportunities that would enhance cooperation in the field of tourism due to the Kingdom's myriad tourism types, including faith tourism, adventure tourism and health tourism, praising the Turkish experience in the tourism sector.

She underscored many fields that could be improved, such as enhancing the air traffic between the two countries and encouraging Turkish tourists to visit Jerusalem through Jordan, in addition to many investment opportunities available to Turkish businessmen to invest in the tourism sector in unique tourist sites such as Petra, Wadi Rum and others.

"Jordan is looking up to Turkey's successful experience in the development of health tourism, and the joint efforts between various parties are moving forward toward enhancing the Jordanian experience in this area, especially with the formation of a board of trustees for health tourism," Shweikeh said.

In turn, Ersoy pointed out to the Turkish government's interest in increasing the number of Turkish tourists visiting the Kingdom, where the number of Turkish visitors in 2019 stood at about 25,000, highlighting the special relationship between the two countries.
