Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (APU) and Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh on Monday condemned Israeli measures aimed at expanding settlement construction on Palestinian territory.
In a statement issued by the APU, Tarawneh said the Israeli prime minister's remarks on the "imposition of Jewish sovereignty on all Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank were another provocation that threatens to induce further violence and demonstrates the criminal identity of the occupier."
Tarawneh stressed that such remarks undermine the chances of peace and constitute a clear violation of the resolutions of the international legitimacy related to the cessation of settlement construction, calling on international community to shoulder its moral responsibilities in combating injustice and oppression and alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people.
He expressed the Arab Parliamentary Union's stand and full support for Palestine, stressing that Netanyahu's statements will not change anything on the ground.
