King attends morning assembly on first day of school at Amman school

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday attended the morning assembly at Al Hussein College Secondary School for Boys, marking the first day of the academic year.

Upon arrival at the school, King Abdullah was received by Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Walid Maani and school principal Alaa Daaja.

His Majesty greeted the students, stressing that young Jordanians are the hope of the future. The King wished the students success, urging them to contribute to the progress of the country.

The morning assembly began with the national anthem and a flag raising ceremony followed by a recital of verses from the Holy Quran. Students from Al Hussein College Secondary School for Boys and girl guides from the ministry of education also sang a poem titled "Anthem for the Homeland" (Nasheed Watan) by poet Hussein Al Gharaibeh with music composed by Talal Abu Al Ragheb.

The poem celebrates the homeland and instils a sense of pride in national achievements, focusing on the values and principles of the national Jordanian identity.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, Adviser to His Majesty for Communication and Coordination Bisher Khasawneh and His Majesty’s Adviser for Policies and Media Kemal Al Nasser accompanied His Majesty on this visit.

Al Hussein College Secondary School for Boys was established in 1920. In 1949, King Abdullah I issued a Royal Decree to name the school after Sharif Hussein bin Ali.

More than 2 million students began classes around the Kingdom on Sunday with the beginning of the new school year 2019-2020.
