PM, House Speaker discuss local affairs

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Omar Razzaz and Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Atef Tarawneh held a meeting on Tuesday evening for a discussion on various national economic issues.

Razzaz and Tarawneh stressed the importance of such meetings, which provide a direct and interactive opportunity for dialogue with representatives of vital sectors.

They reaffirmed the importance of establishing a genuine and closer partnership with the private sector as a partner in the national development drive.

The prime minister reiterated that Jordan is able to overcome the challenges, and that what is needed is to focus on the challenges facing various sectors, and work to resolve them.

He indicated that the structural challenges facing the national economy need time and good plans to be resolved, saying "we are on the track."

In this context, Razzaz reviewed measures taken to develop the labor market and attract investments, stressing the need to simplify procedures and expand the umbrella of investment incentives and more jobs for Jordanians.

Tarawneh emphasized the need to develop an appropriate strategy that addresses the problems facing the investment, agricultural, construction and industrial sectors.

At the same time, the parliament speaker stressed the need to combat tax and customs evasion and administrative slack and rejuvenate the national economy to withstand economic challenges arising from regional conditions.
