Police confiscate over 500 firearms in security crackdown

31-07-2019 09:00 AM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Some 503 people were arrested in possession of 577 unlicensed firearms, since the beginning of a security crackdown on discharging firearms in public and possession of unlicensed weapons, last June.

Police apprehended 170 people across the Kingdom during the fifth week of the campaign and seized 184 firearms, the Public Security Department (PSD) Wednesday said in a statement.

The PSD noted it has taken all necessary legal and administrative measures during its crackdown, which aims at curbing this phenomenon, adding it will continue according to strict measures to protect society and uphold the law.

The PSD hailed citizens who carried out their civic duty in denouncing this act or reporting it to the police, urging the public to call 911 and report any shooting incidents.
