Razzaz, Chinese delegation discuss trade, investment cooperation

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister, Omar Razzaz, discussed on Thursday with the Director General of Chinese-Arab Technology and Culture Transfer Centre , Xing Ji Guo, and an investment delegation representing a group of Chinese companies in agriculture, transportation, information technology and health sectors, ways to strengthening economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, the premier said the Jordanian-Chinese relations are "moving in the right direction," announcing China has become Jordan's second largest trade partner.

The trade balance between the two countries is heavily in favor of China, and Jordan hopes its agricultural exports will enter the Chinese market, especially the Jordanian dates, which are of the finest quality on the world level, Razzaz told the business guests.

Discussing cooperation prospects, the prime minister pointed to Jordan's desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation with China in the areas of trade and investment, to promote cultural, educational and health exchanges and to benefit from China's leading experiences in the field of technology transfer.

Razzaz said Jordan has many advantages to attract investments, mainly the stimulating environment and the security and stability factors, as well as the free trade agreements that link Jordan with the United States, Canada and Europe, that allow foreign companies to export to markets with more than one billion consumers across the world in a preferential manner.

The premier also reminded of Jordan's strategic location to enter the region's markets and reconstruction opportunities in neighboring countries.

Razzaz expressed Jordan's welcome to receive further Chinese investment, especially in the fields of advanced technology, the establishment of training centers for Jordanian youth, and the possibility of investing in major projects that Jordan intends to implement.

For his part, the Director General of Chinese-Arab States Technology and Culture Transfer Centre expressed Beijing's desire to strengthen its relations with the Arab countries, especially with Jordan, in view of the availability of the necessary factors to develop them in all fields.

Slated to kick off in September, the Chinese official invited Jordan to participate in the Sino-Arab Economic Forum and the China-Arab Trade Fair to be held in China's Ningxia Province.

In 2015, Jordan participated in the forum's, fair's sessions, during which several agreements between the public and private sectors in the two countries were signed.
