Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, in a phone call on Tuesday discussed with his Libyan counterpart, Mohamed El Taher Seyala, the issue of the three Jordanians who were detained in Libya since last August.
Safadi urged the Libyan authorities to immediately release the three Jordanians and return them back to the Kingdom.
The Libyan minister stressed his government's concern about this issue, explaining that the reason for the delay is that they were held by one of the Libyan militias who handed them over to another militia.
The Libyan authorities have recently located them and submitted their case to the Attorney General to end the investigation and release them, he added.
The Libyan official stressed he is personally following up on the case, upon recommendation from the Head of the Libyan Presidential Council.
Safadi urged accelerating procedures to end this tragedy and bring the kidnapped Jordanians back home.
The Foreign Ministry has previously issued a number of statements saying it has been following up on the case of the kidnapped Jordanians, making several calls with the Libyan authorities and sending official notes for the Libyan Embassy in Amman in this regard.
The issue was also raised during the visit of Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, to the Kingdom last December.
On many occasions, Safadi has discussed with President Al-Sarraj and his Libyan counterpart this issue, stressing the need to push forward efforts to release them.
