Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi on Saturday emphasized the importance of the European Union's role in the efforts aimed at resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the two-state solution, which guarantees the right of Palestinians to freedom and statehood on pre-June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
During a meeting with EU Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process Susanna Terstal, Safadi stressed the need to intensify international efforts to reach a solution based on international legitimacy and international law, warning of the continued deterioration of the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The Foreign minister appreciated the European Union's continuous support to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), which contributed significantly to offsetting the Agency's budget deficit last year and its continued support for UNRWA this year.
Safadi and Tristal stressed the need for continued coordination and cooperation between the Kingdom and the European Union in order to find a political horizon for resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
The European official expressed her appreciation for the strategic partnership with the Kingdom and the efforts led by His Majesty King Abdullah II to achieve security and stability in the region.
