Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Immediately after he returned home from London, Prime Minister Omar al-Razzaz, late Friday, visited downtown Amman to check on the situation after losses caused to shops due to heavy rainfall that led to flooding on Thursday.
In his tour, the Prime Minister, who was accompanied by Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Tareq Al-Hamouri and Chairman of Amman Chamber of Commerce Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq, listened to complaints of citizens, shop owners and traders who were badly affected by the severe weather conditions.
"The situation is so painful," the prime minister said, adding that the government is aware of the damage inflicted to businesses and promised to examine the matter thoroughly to take every necessary action to address the situation."
According to estimates, Razaz said, heavy rainfall on Thursday was unprecedented, but still it is our duty to be always ready for such exceptional circumstances, as we should also do everything to deal with them.
Razzaz commended community initiatives launched to help the owners of shops affected by weather conditions, stressing the government's support for such initiatives and stand by the affected people.
Downtown Amman has recorded the highest rainfall on Thursday, which led to flooding that inflicted heavy damages to roads, shops and businesses there .
